bruyereenfleur asked: About your last post...I truly understand you. In fact, a couple of days before I left Spain, I came from a party and 3 guys approached me on the streets and just started grabbing my tatas!! I was like wtf? In fact, the reason why I started to follow you was to see if maybe your experience would be different than mine. I really hope things get better for you. I can't generalize but I can say...

100%
I would love to keep this blog 100% positive and upbeat, but that’s not always the reality of being in a completely new country and culture.
It seems as though every other time that I go out (at night with my friends), I feel objectified and/or disrespected in some way.
Last night a man around my age watched two of my girl friends walk into a club, and he decided to kiss me on my cheek....

La Basilica
My favorite part of the trip (so far)!
Breathtaking, humbling and awestruck don’t begin to describe how the ceiling of the Basilica (a relatively recent retouched fresco) made me feel.
And some close-ups:
If you’re ever in Valencia, I highly recommend that you visit La Basilica (it’s neighbor- la catedral [the cathedral]- and other neighboring monuments) to see some...
coco-leeco asked: I think its really amazing that you're traveling. Hopefully I will get the chance next spring. Do you plan on doing other programs, like ones that allow you to live in Spain and teach English to school kids? That's something I plan on doing once I graduate, my brother currently does it in SK and he loves it!
a-wanderlustsoul asked: When did you start to learn Spanish?

Talk about innovation.
I have a thing for architecture, and random fixtures or elements that don’t necessarily belong in their surroundings.
Take for example, the park in the middle of the Atocha train station of Madrid.
Coming from New York City, I can’t even begin to stress how completely different this is from Penn Station.
The train station was filled with convenience stores, shopping,...

Oh, the joys of electrocuting yourself because you...
By the way!
If you haven’t figured this out- there is a HUGE time difference!
If you are in the United States, you are 6 hours behind me.
When it is noon for you, I’m already at 6 p.m.
For example- right now it is 10:37. This means that it is 4:37 in the afternoon for you.
(So yes, technically I’m living in the future).
¡Una empieza alucinante!
An amazing beginning to my study abroad trip begins here in Madrid (I said that with a Spanish accent, just in case any of you are doubting me).
I’ve been at a hostel since yesterday (along with the other students in the program), and will be here until tomorrow. Mañana we take the train to Valencia (I know Spanglish is frowned upon, but my English readers should get accustomed to seeing...

Bienvenidos a Dos Maletas
Hola followers! My name is Dominique, and I’m a 20 year old from Brooklyn that (starting January 11th) will be spending 4 months in Spain!
The blog will be bilingual for a while, but I’m hoping that with more time comes fluency, and therefore, the progression of writing about 90% in español (10% for family, friends and followers that only know English lol).
I’ve named my url...
